> I had an old system that recently died and I built a new one. I used dual Viewsonic 20" flatscreen VG2030wm Monitors (they are about 3 years old) with an Nvidia GeForce 5600 512Mb Video card AGP 8x. configured as Dualview. Just before the system died the monitors started to act up in the following manner:
> #1 is Left (main) Monitor #2 is Right monitor
>
> First #2 monitor image would shift about 1" to the left and when the system was first turned on the #2 monitor would go black, but the mouse icon could go in and move objects (if lucky). I would have to turn off the monitor power momentarily then restart it to get it to work. (Note when the #2 image Horiz Shifts automatically, I would try to re adjust it correctly, but the monitor would go black as soon as I tried to shift)

> When the system MB finally died, I built a new one, Replaced the 430 Watt Power Supply with a 570 Watt, I did a clean install of Win XP Pro SP3 build 2600. with a new MB, RAM and Video Card Nvidia GeForce 9400 GT 1Gb PCI Express x16. but now after a short period of time the #2 monitor will still shift and the #1 monitor will go black.

> I have noticed that when I have a lot of programs running I can drag all the windows to #2 monitor, and after a while #1 monitor will seem to "warm up" and not go black anymore(I usually have Yahoo and MSN messengers running along with Opera, Seamonkey and Firefox as well as Outlook 2010 Beta and occasionally Photoshop, Quark, iTunes and /or Zune. (and according to the task manager I still have a LOT of memory available).

> Nvidia says since the same issue happened on a different computer, it is the monitors. Viewsonic offers no support as they are out of warranty. (needless to say I will but my monitors from someone else next time. I uninstalled the video drivers and ran driversweeper in safe mode then installed the newest video and monitor drivers. I am thinking I may have been infected with a virus, something not detected by Zonealarm or Malwarebytes...
