I've started doing this too, or at least something closer. It started
when I realised how crazy it is that when the clocks change, we all
start getting up at hour later (or earlier, depending on the season).
So now I try to sleep about 10-11pm to 6-7am. I still don't sleep the
whole night through, I don't think I ever will. But I don't need an
alarm any more, and I'm not worried about getting enough sleep. When
I worked in full-time, permanent employment, my biggest cause of lost
sleep was worrying about not getting enough sleep...
I've also noticed that I start to get tired not long after it goes
dark, but that artificial lighting switches me into some sort of
adrenaline-fuelled state where I just ignore it. That can't be
healthy...
I'll have to see what happens as the winter gets darker, I can't spend
all my hours out of work in bed...
