I use mine because I put in about 600 miles a week in 3 counties.  Tom Toms
and Garmins are the best.  Husband got me the best he could afford but,
that's because he is really geeky.  Mine's got bluetooth so that I can use
it for hands free with my phone (they talk to each other), I can also get
real time traffic updates because of the long time I'm on the road.  We had
a Magellan in our rental car last year and it was easy to use.  
You want to settle on a size also, I like a medium size, not too small (for
the eyes and fingers) and not too large, the Magellan was too large.  
I'm still learning about mine.
