No, you have to stop driving to read the display. Arm twisting gets my
wife to look at the messages. Sometimes you see a mobile 175 miles away
who is traveling at 200 miles per hour. It makes me wonder about the
accuracy of the other signals.
Kenwood could add a menu option to speak emergency messages, messages to
your station or any other items of interest.
I can compose a message using the mic keypad (almost) and can do some
stuff based on the high and low beeps.
When time permits, I'll try sending the info out the serial port to a
terminal program. There are a lot of symbols, icons and arrows, so it
might be difficult. Still, it's something some of you might want to
try.
