    Hi Ed,
There are a few steps involved in getting books downloaded from NLS.
You have to get logged on to the NLS web site for approval.  NLS then 
communicates with Humanware, and they are the ones that send you a user key 
(by email) that you load onto your Stream.

I've been using the system, and also Bookshare, since September, 2007.
