Folks, the best multiband wire antenna I have ever used is still as long a
doublet as can be managed, fed with 300 or 450 ohm window line.
If conditions preclude window line, use a pair of coaxial cables, with
center conductors feeding each leg of the antenna, shields at the antenna
end tied together but left unconnected to anything els,
and shields at the antenna tuner end grounded.
Used with a decent tuner, and a balun, (if necessary), this will get you all
bend coverage from the closest frequency whose resonant length is shorter
than your doublet up to ten meters and beyond.
The legs of the ddoublet need not be streight, and loading coils may be used
if necessary.
If the double coax must be used to feed, use the highest impedance cable you
can get hold of to minimize i^2 losses.
Hope this helps someone.
It is also cheaper than buying a commercial wire antenna.
