The first radio I ever had that covered 160 was my ft 101 e which I think 
I bought in 73 or somewhere in there.  Well, I should say side band.  I 
had an old viking one and so forth.  Heath kit made a 160 meter version of 
the hw12, but I forget the model and they were very very rare.  I knew a 
guy once who actually converted his hw 12 to 160.
