I was an NCS and a traffic handler on nets for years before computers came
along and I used the brailler. I have used a BrailleNote a few times and it
works well. But when there's no power, the brailler is the thing to use.
It's similar to a sighted person using pencil and paper, but the brailler's
faster. The slate and stylus is supposed to be the blind person's "pencil",
but I just can't write fast enough to use it for ncs or traffic. So far, I
don't know of one slate user who can be an ncs or handle traffic using only
the slate and stylus without an auxiliary recording device.
