Tom,
Running the rig at lower power may cause the fan to cycle on and off less
frequently, but other than that it won't change anything. Unlike the fans
in some Icon radios, the one in the 480 only has one speed as far as I know.
Of course, you could go for the ultimate in quiet operation by not running
the radio at all.
