The UHF mount is the pl259/SO238 type of mount that has the usual coax
connection.
The NMO mount is stronger, and has a much tighter connection, in my opinion.
It's therefore less succeptable to moisture.
I went through the same problem when I was getting my motor home set-up for
2-meters and 440 going, and the NMO mount was suggested over the UHF one
hands down.
I don't think it's much more expensive than the UHF mount either.
