I just returned from O'ahu. For the first 4 days, I stayed at the Hilton Hawaiian Village. Eating was difficult as the room had only a frig and cooking wasn't allowed in any of the rooms except for the condo building. I ate pre-cut fruit from the ABC store (there's one on almost any corner) with almond butter that I brought from home for breakfast. The hotel food was very expensive and though they said they could prepare anything gf, it was outside my budget. I ate nuts, Lara bars, crackers and canned fish that I brought from home. I had a couple of hotel meals that our chorus paid for and they were very good and gf. No problems there.
I stayed at the Waikiki Banyon for the next several days in a condo, so I prepared my meals. There are supermarkets and health food stores all within a few minutes reach by car. I compiled a list of health food stores before I left, but didn't need it as the supermarkets had organic and gf foods and they were very easy to find. Safeway on Kapahulu has a large selection of frozen gf entrees.
There's a PF Changs on Lewers St in the Waikiki area and an Outback within a 10 minute drive. I didn't try any other restaurants, but there are so many there that had I wanted to eat out more, I feel confident that I could have found something.
Aloha,
Marian
(Wishing I was still there)
