They've both had the lithium Ion battery as long as they've been out. Only 
upgrade I know of is is the early ICT90A's had receiver issues where they 
were way too broad, get in a high noise area and it was useless but they 
fixed that after about the first year or so apparently since I've had 2 of 
them and neither one had that problem though the newer one is even better 
than the first one was with noise. Neither one I've had was near as bad as a 
couple people I know and they showed me how bad they were. They were bought 
in the first 6 months it was out though.
