Hi;
I realize you have seen some replies to this but I too am using the vip1000
talking thermostat and couldn't be happier. You may want to have your
sister check with your local utility to see if the are any rebates for
talking thermostats available. There was one here in Buffalo but we got
into the great debate over the bar code from the original box etc. It will
be much easier if she knows what rebate documentation they insist on prior
to ordering. Also if she is a handiham member I believe you get a break in
the shipping. I believe she has her ticket so she might want to join and at
least come out even.
There is a second unit that folks locally haven't been as pleased with that
apparently is set up to announce the temp when you clap.
Richard

Subject: Accessible Programmable Thermostats

Hi.

Some time ago, there was a discussion about programmable thermostats on the
list. My sister has an oil furnace and right now has the traditional round
thermostat where you twist the dial to the temperature you want--the same
type that I used for years merely by using spots of hi mark to mark 65
degrees and just always lining up the marks for 65 when I wanted
heat. Anyway, she wants to utilize the furnace more efficiently by
programming when and how much heat she gets. If you have an accessible
thermostat that has worked out well for you, could you e-mail me privately
off-list?

Thanks in advance, and 73, de Lou K2LKK
