Hi Tom.
I agree that the way Kenwood designed the connector is disconcerting
because one is afraid that pins will get bent trying to find the correct
orientation. It will only go in one way, and if you don't try to force it,
you should be okay. A little hi-mark on the top of the connector hood once
you find the correct orientation might simplify the job in the future. By
the way, fabric paint also works for that purpose. It has been available
at JoAnn Fabrics in the past, and costs a lot less than Hi-Mark.
