Hi Members,
 
Thanks for being so patient during my hiatus. My husband and I have been  
having a wonderful summer and fall traveling in our camper and really getting to  
know the Olympic Peninsula. We were in the Hoe Rain Forest and had two young  
bull elks sparring about three feet from our camper. What an experience. Only 
in  the Hoe!
 
When I got home I encountered a woman who is new to the peninsula and is a  
personal chef and a nutritional councilor. Her name is Samaya Jones and she has 
 her own business in Sequim and Port Angeles but after talking together she 
said  she would like to come to the meeting and answer questions on cooking and 
 nutrition. Therefore, we will have a meeting on Oct. 25th at 1:00 pm at the  
First Baptist Church of Sequim on 1323 Sequim-Dungeness Way (the light blue  
church just north of the round-a-bout). I could not get the Methodist Church 
for  this meeting but will try for future meetings. If you have a 
transportation  problem, please give me a call and we can arrange for pickup. We will have 
a  question and answer forum with myself and Samaya, and goodies to eat and a 
lot  of good information about the gluten free diet. Bring friends and family 
and  questions you might have.
 
As you have heard, our Gluten Intolerance Group National Conference will be  
in Seattle on June 5th and 6th at the Airport Marriott Hotel. It will be  
spectacular, as always, but they need your help to make it go smoothly. If you  
think you can volunteer for helping with the conference either in the planning  
phase, committee work or a volunteer at the meeting, we would love to hear 
from  you. Go to _www.gluten.net_ (http://www.gluten.net)  to find out more  
about the meeting and we will discuss it at our meeting on the 25th. If you have  
never been to a national GIG meeting before, you cannot believe what you will  
learn and the food you get to eat. It is a once a year experience you 
shouldn't  miss. Take advantage of the fact that it is in Seattle and please attend. 
With  the bridge out you might want to make a hotel reservation for the two 
days and  really enjoy yourself.

but will always be a part of GIG. We miss her already!

A message from Adele Fosser, former leader of Port Townsend, WA  GIG
 
Hi, We are finally moved and getting settled in our house in Lakewood,  WA.
 
Everything we did to fix up the house took longer than expected. We still  
have lots of boxes to unpack, but we will also get ready to travel to Minnesota  
to see my Dad and brothers and families and then the East coast to see our 
kids  in Delaware and Virginia. Hopefully, we will return before the snow flies.
 
If you were involved with the Port Townsend GIG and want to be a part of  the 
Kitsap/Olympic Peninsula GIG group please email Sue Eliot at 
[log in to unmask] (mailto:[log in to unmask])  so that she will let  you know when and 
where the meetings are scheduled. I talked to her last week,  and she is 
organizing the future meetings. Also, please tell her if you are  willing to help 
out in any way. Now, it's up to you to get the message to her.  If you are 
already on Sue's list, you will stay there. I know that some of you  were already 
on both lists.
 
It sounds like those who went on the August bus trip to Portland and Bob's  
Red Mill and the Hawthorne Street Fish House had a wonderful time, thanks to  
Paul Ogg, the driver and Sue Eliot, the organizer.
 
The next national GIG meeting is being organized and it will be in Seattle  
in June. Check out the GIG website: _www.gluten.net_ (http://www.gluten.net)  
and offer your time and help for  that big event. Since I am closer to the 
office in Auburn, I hope to help out  too. If you need to renew your membership, 
you can find out the information at  the website. Your membership is only $35. 
per year and you receive the GIG  publication 4 times per year. They can also 
use your donations of money anytime.  Sometime next year, I hope to offer the 
chance for you to organize a small group  of people who want to learn how to 
cook or bake something in particular that is  gluten-free, for example, 
cinnamon rolls, or sandwich "buns," etc. and for a  generous donation to GIG, I will 
have you come to our house in Lakewood, and I  will demonstrate how--I have 
the perfect kitchen/family room. Of course, you'll  get to eat too! I'll have 
Sue let you know when I'm ready to "roll. We need to  support GIG, and Cynthia 
Kupper, our dietitian and leader of GIG.
 
Thanks again for all of you who helped me with the Port Townsend GIG  
meetings. Gluten-free is certainly more popular today - - look at all that is  
available, along with all the good food that is gluten-free all the  time.
