And it's not just that. There is a whole contingent of kids out there
going to various storefront "colleges" to learn "HVAC" or "Electronics"
or "Medical Assistant". They are borrowing $7-12K or more for a
non-accredited certificate, and don't realize it is basically worthless.
They also borrow a "living allowance" or "overage". This debt is piling
up and resembles the low-income mortgage situation to me - predatory
practices and all.
They proudly tell me "I'm in college now!". They are good kids, trying
to do the right thing. It makes me sad.
