Or even another cheap sound card dedicated to digital ham stuff.
The dedicated synth either  external or an internal card type is certainly
the other way to go, but they're often more expensive and more tedious to
set up and run if your not familiar with them.
If your interested in only receiving PSK and not transmitting, then you can
easily use a single sound card.
However, when you transmit, unless your using an external synth or separate
sound card for jaws, anything Jaws or your particular screen reader speaks
will be sent out over the air along with the PSK tones...something you
likely would want to avoid.
I use skype to  transmit and receive remotely on my main rig and utilizing
double sound cards on the shack computer is definitely a necesity.  The last
thing you want to happen is an accidental blurb from jaws or an email
notification blasting out over whatever frequency the radio is set to.
