I got quite a few responses, am looking forward to trying some of these places. People included more than Ocean City and I thank you all.
I dont' understand all the abbreviations, what does DD mean????
Thanks,
Linda in Pa.
We've been going to Ocean City for a lot of years. Try the Island Grill. I think it's on 1st and Atlantic, a little north of the boardwalk. It's a small, privately run restaurant. The staff is really helpful and I've never had a problem getting a good gluten free meal there. Another plus - they take reservations. There really is nothing safe on the boardwalk, except for Kohr. Bros. frozen custard.
We had a good experience at Harrah's in their Reflections Cafe. I called a few days ahead of time and spoke with the chef on duty (Chef James), who ordered a few gluten free specialty items for my DD (pasta, waffles). Call several days to a week ahead so they have enough time to order what you'd like. Chef James said to only order your meal with the chef, not with the server....good thing because the one waitress tried to tell me how great their mini (gluten) pancakes were for kids. Anyway, I asked for the chef each time we sat down, ordered with the chef (and asked questions to make sure I felt comfortable)...the chef then prepared DD's food and served it to my DD himself, which made me feel more comfortable about the risk of cc. None of their desserts are gluten free, but there is a food court next door with Ben & Jerry's ice cream (vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry, and maybe more, are gluten-free).

"I worked with the Bellevue Tavern to help develop a menu of gluten-free options, and I too enjoyed Lucky Bones. My husband and I ate there the last time we were in town. Wonderful! And Five Guys in Rio Grande is a favorite of mine. They can easily accommodate GF (just ask for no bun) because of the limited menu, and they don't fry anything but potatoes in their fryers. Many of the more expensive restaurants in Cape May can accommodate a GF diet."
"While I do not have celiac, I am gluten free. I know that La Piazza on Pacific Ave in Wildwood offers gluten-free pasta upon request. They charge a little more but I was thrilled when I could order pasta with vodka sauce--gluten free. And Green Street Market at: www:greenstreetmarket.com carries a wide selection of gluten-free products.
"My wife Marye was diagnosed with Celiac about 2 1/2 years ago. We found that the Cape May Court House diner is very accommodating to her. Of course she has to be careful what she orders and must tell the waitress."
Here are a few of the restaurants that either offer a gluten-free menu or can prepare gluten-free items:
Lucky Bones Backwater Grille, Cape May
Menz Restaurant, Rio Grande
Green Street Market, Rio Grande
Belleview Tavern, Cape May Court House
Bonefish Grille, Egg Harbor Township

Simply Fondue, Mays Landing
Alumni Grill, Wildwood

Yes, I do provide a gluten-free breakfast. There are a couple of places to eat that can do gluten-free on the Boardwalk - Bashfull Banana and Litterers are 2 places that my gluten-free guests enjoy.
My breakfast choices for a gluten-free diet include french toast, pancakes or waffles (made from Pamela's mix) and eggs. I also make muffins that are gluten-free.

Nags Head Fine Dining, right in downtown O.C. is a small place with fine food and knowledgable staff. I strongly recommend the place. O.C. doesn't really have many fine dining establishments.
I was just there a couple weeks ago and you're in luck! There's a fantastic place called Bashful Banana right on the boardwalk, next to one of the go-cart/mini-golf areas, that has extensive gluten-free options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Sort of a sandwich/cafe kind of place (with really good gf bread for the sandwiches), also has baked goods and pancakes and waffles, and really tasty whipped banana desserts. When we were there, I kept coming back for every meal, it was so convenient.
