That's not my understanding. Unless it has an HD tuner, it won't work
without a converter box.

you won't need a converter box on any TV made in the last few years, since
2000 I believe it was, HD or not. I'm told HD is a complete waste of money
by people who can see the picture, that's why I asked, I wasn't sure if you
heard something I didn't about them.
