Hi List,

Normally, I don't like posting off topic messages to specific lists, but
since this is not a controversial political issue nor are the rules on this
list so strict and since I am becoming concerned about my particular
issue--other technical lists not providing answers to me for several days
now, I thought I would ask people on this list.

I am not sure if it is related to Service Pack 3 which I installed for
Windows XP a couple of weeks ago, or if it is something else unrelated, but
for at least several days, my windows automatic update is not working. When
I click start menu/Windows update, Internet Explorer launches, starts
reading the page and the last thing I hear is "checking to see if you have
the latest version of software needed for Windows Update." After this is
read, Internet Explorer hangs and nothing works. Using JAWS, I can use the
JAWS cursor and actually click on the check for critical updates icon, but a
few seconds afterward, I get the message "Internet Explorer not responding."
I then have to use the Windows Task Manager to kill the browser.

Has anyone experienced this issue at any time recently (either with or
without upgrading to XP SP3) and if so would anyone have any recommendations
as to how to fix the issue?

I am still running Internet Explorer 6.0. Someone told me to try 7.0, but
without Windows Update working properly, I am not sure how this can be done.
One other person told me they are running XP SP3 and have no problems
updating.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
