hello,
thanks to those who responded to my query about GF pizza in New Haven, CT.
the place i recalled reading about on this List a few months back is
Ernie's, at 1270 Whalley Avenue, New Haven, CT 06515. Phone number is 203-387-3362.
Pat, the owner and chef, apparently knows the issues involved in GF food
preparation and the potential for cross-contamination as he has a relative who
has celiac. Also, you can actually see him preparing the pizza.
Ernie's uses "Still Riding" pizza crusts and fyi -- the website
_www.stillriding.com_ (http://www.stillriding.com/) lists all the restaurants in the
northeast that use this crust.
A few additional comments/suggestions were made, as well. They are as
follows:
1) Call ahead to make sure that they have the GF pizza shells in stock
2) it's best to go there during off-peak times, if possible
3) ask for Pat upon your arrival
4) be aware that cross contamination is a big issue in a pizzeria, so decide
for yourself whether you are comfortable
once again, thank you for your help!
best,
justine
