Getting mixed reviews on Dan Active, but the preferences seem to be based on personal choice, not company information. And the consensus is you can't get a clear answer from Dannon. (See below.)

Those who like Dan Active seem to swear by it, and those who won't touch Dannon with a ten foot pole, don't recommend it.

One writer gave a very insightful comment on the complexities of getting an honest opinion from a company because of government regulations on having to label the sources of alcohol. I'm one of those celiac people who believe distilled alcohol, including those in flavorings are gluten-free. (Please send me no arguments. I'm not open to changing my mind on this...until actual scientific research proves it otherwise.) I love the listmate's response and commentary. So much of what we're dealing with has nothing to do with celiac.

Here's her insightful quote:
Dannon would probably give you the Song & Dance about the ethanol in the flavoring be 'derived from grain alcohol." The "from grain" is the legal definition required by the ATF which regulates alcohol even though chemists agree that ethanol can't be distinguished by source . (Obviously the ATF's job it to make sure those who are paying premium price for good sipping whiskey from rye/grain are getting what they pay for!)

Another person wrote: I've called Dannon many times & just recently 2 wks. ago as I was wondering also if they might now have GF yogurt. They expressly state that the only Gluten Free (GF) yogurt they have is plain Dannons.
