Yow.  That doesn't speak well for medical cluefulness in the Lake
Wobegon vicinity.

Back in the 1970s, you could get a free subscription to the MMWR just
for the asking.  I found it fascinating.  Somewhere among my stuff, I
still have the issue that contained the first published report
anywhere about the syndrome now known as AIDS.  They put it on page 2
-- for bad reasons later detailed in Randy Shilts' book "And The Band
Played On."
