Same thing happened at Central Synagogue in the late 1990's here in NYC.
Huge fire in immensely ornate and beautiful Synagogue with wood timber
trusses. Supposedly also started when the roofing contractor was finishing
up working on flashings. No smoke watch and the thing really burned fast and
hot! It is now very back to being very beautiful with many upgrades. A few
of the roof trusses were saved and we matched the new ones to the old. Take
a look at our website for photos.
