Those push up masts are fine, but you must use a wall bracket about half way 
up if you are going to the full 40 foot lengthh,.  Now fine means maybe a 
wire antenna and a high gain vhf/uhf antenna.  I wouldn't try any beams or 
roters on that mast.  The rest are good questions, I wish I had answers to.
