Good points here. As we have had above average IT planning here we were
lucky. I too like the later 8 versions. Contact me privately for a new
question in this area.

Thank you!

Subject: Re: Ot WORD 2000 QUESTION

Hi.

We did, and both 6.0 and 8.0 were more responsive. Also, 8.0 was a bit
better about screen refreshes because they used an improved video
intercept module, and it was especially better if I turned enhanced edit
on.

I also found the same thing to be true in our databases--in places I had
to lengthen delay times on scripts a little to get 7.10 to play
correctly. I just wasn't very fond of that version or the early builds
of 8.0, but the ones starting with 8.0.1177 were pretty good. Some
folks have reported trouble with JAWS 9.0 at work, but I've had fairly
good luck with it both at home and work. I really think that a lot of
this depends upon the speed of your machine, whether or not you are
running over the network, and whether or not there is any latency in the
network.

I suspect that the reason why we have varying opinions on a specific
version is because if the timing of that version matches the speed of
your machine, it looks pretty good to you, and if it doesn't match the
speed of my machine, it can look pretty bad to me.

Most of the time when I see prompts that should read, but don't, it is a
timing problem 9 times out of 10. If I can hit INSERT+TAB and then the
prompt reads, then it's timing.
