You could run it with the preamp off as well but based on my luck with the
TS-570 and TS-2000 and MC-60A, even with the preamp off, you'd be better off
with the heil, I had 2 MC-60A's and they were great on the 440 and 450 I
had, but no good on newer radios and if you check online with mods and
stuff, there are a lot of fixes and problems out there similar to mine.
Maybe the 480 is different, I don't know and may never know, but I'd imagine
not.
