Tom,

It all depends on how much you use the 746 for weak signal work and sideband
on 2 meters, if you were simply using it for 2 meters fm, then you wouldn't
be losing much by swapping with this guy for the used 480. Considering that
the 746 pro 3 is I think somewhere around 1600 dollars new, and the 746 that
you have is almost ten years old, I'd say that about seven to eight hundred
dollars is a good price for that rig. So like I said, you're probably
getting the better end of the deal with this other gentleman. But if the
guy is willing to make the deal, then go for it by all means, if he's fully
aware of what the situation is, then you're really not taking advantage of
him. In my oppinion, (and it's worth the exact cost that I'm charging, that
being free) a person hasn't been taken advantage of if the deal is made with
both sides having good information, and if both sides benefit from it. So,
if this prospective trader wants the 746, and knows just what he's getting,
and uses it to its fullest capabilities, then he hasn't been taken advantage
of.

73,
Chris, w8cjs
