I just want to say thankyou to all the responses I've had to my first question on here, I will
look into posting all the useful answers.
I have a few specific questions I'm hoping to get some answers to, I apologies if they have
been answered before I just can't see this myself .
I have been told I have diabetes, and only that it will go into type 1. I had a GTT which had
elevated blood glucose for a few hours around 14mmol ( x18 for other measurment). My
insulin was measured alongside and showed I was producing some but not an adaquate
amount especially the first hour.
I also have policystic ovarian syndrom and borderline insulin resistance.
I follow a low gi diet but find that my bloodsugar will rise to around 11mmol after eating where
i get sleepy and blurred vision and muscle aches and then fall the around 2mmol three hours
later where I get shakey, can't think, ect. I have lost so much weight I'm around 6 stone,
blurred vision when hyper, thirsty, sweet urine.
I was given a drug prandin to increase my insulin taken before meal, this gives me extreme
hypo and bad side effects.
I am so confused, do I have type 1, 1.5, 2? Are these fluctuations normal in diabetics who are
not on medication?
I also have celiac and wondered the connection?
Has anyone experienced this and found a treatment to help, I am doing all I can diet wise,
Many thanks
Bernadette
