IPC and IDSF Sign Co-operative Agreement: 

The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) and the International Dance
Sport Federation (IDSF) signed a co-operative agreement to ensure a formal
institutional relationship between the two bodies and further develop the
sport of Wheelchair Dance Sport. Furthermore, the IPC and IDSF will work
together to progress the realization of a single international governing
body for Dance Sport, which encompasses Wheelchair Dance Sport. (read more.)

Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games

The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) officially announced that only
three anti-doping rule violations occurred during the Beijing 2008
Paralympic Games. All three were in the sport of Powerlifting and happened
before competitions began. Because there was no anti-doping rule violation
in-competition, the IPC feels the Games to be still a successful showing and
of fair competition. (read more.)

Australia: 

On 14 October, Australian Paralympic Committee President Greg Hartung
publicly acknowledged the significant contribution made by its departing
Chief Executive Officer, Darren Peters. Mr. Peters, the Chef de Mission of
the 2008 Paralympic Team, joined the APC in 2002 and brought a strong

Great Britain: 

Following their enormous success in Beijing this summer, Britain's Olympic
and Paralympic athletes took part in a heroes parade through the streets of
London on 16 October. All the athletes that went to Beijing have been
invited and it will be the first time so many of them will have been able to

Twenty Years Ago - Seoul 1988 Paralympics: 

On 19 October, in commemoration of 20 years after the Seoul 1988 Paralympic
Games, the Korean Paralympic Committee (KPC) hosted a full-scale celebration
with almost 300 invited guests and participants. The official programme
started in the morning and was held at Seoul Olympic Parktel. About 20
representatives from the media covered the event, as well as representatives
from KPC's official sponsors and partners, member federations for people
with a disability, local and civil sports associations and other

Exciting Race Through Tyne Tunnel: 

Josh Cassidy and Diane Roy came in first place in the Men's and Women's Race
at the 7th Tunnel 2K Wheelchair Race in Great Britain. The Canadians
impressed onlookers as they participated in what is called the fastest race
of its kind in the world and finished in a time of 4 minutes 24 seconds and
5 minutes 19 seconds respectively. (read more.)

First HandiTel International Conference in Monaco: 

As part of SPORTEL Monaco 2008, the first HandiTel International Conference
will take place on 22 October at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco. The addition
to the programme this year officially opens up the highly-influencial
audience and participants to the Paralympic world and its broadcasting

Sochi 2014 Began Its Zero Waste Balance Project: 

As part of the Sochi 2014 Games Plan a new modern waste processing plant
will be constructed in Sochi. It will provide an urban waste processing
system for the 2014 Olympic and Paralympic Games and beyond by replacing
