Oh, I couldn't agree more. Love a good rain. The fig trees - three - are
on steel carts, they go in the barn before first frost and out in the
spring. No light or water all winter, no problem. Many of the Italian
tradesmen back in the 1890's in New Haven (mostly Fair Haven) used to make
furnaces from old oil barrels and pipe hot water around their back yards
when really cold. They grew everything they grew in the old country.
Best,
Leland

FIGS????? The only figs I've ever seen were in Fig Newtons, didn't know
they even grew in this COUNTRY !!!!!

What really gets me is when it has been drier than a popcorn fart for a
month and all the plants are drying up and the weather man will come on and
howl about "bad weather" the next day because it is going to rain when all
of the sensible folks are rejoicing. Don't they realize "into each life a
little rain must fall" else we'll all perish? Ruth
