Tom,

The fairly large slide switch near the top of the mic is another keying 
switch.  It should put you into transmit just like the two buttons on the 
stand.  The much smaller switch further down the mic is to change impedance. 
Pushed toward the top of the mic, it will give you high impedance and, 
obviously, low impedance toward the bottom of the mic.  I find on the 440, 
it doesn't make much difference where that one is set but that may well be 
different on the 480.  The switch on the underside of the stand is for the 
amplifier.  As I said before, I never use it as it overdrives the 440 audio 
input.  If you can monitor the rig with your headphones, just try both 
positions and see which one sounds the cleanest.  Good luck.  Lou
