Whether you guy or not depends on how much wind your location experiences.

I have an r 8 at my coastal location which has experienced damage in the 95
mph winds a month ago. This despite it being guyed just at the bottom of
the top whip extension.

Hi Rick,
I am currently using the R7 and I have it on a push-up pole fastened to the
side of the house. It's up about 10 to 15 feet and it works great. I have
talked all over the world with it. At that height you don't need to guy it.
Don't get me wrong, it's not as good as the beam that I'm about to put up
but for a vertical it's not bad at all.

Subject: Mounting The R7 antenna.

Hi list.
I was using an Amtron 99 that I had for CB on 10 meters, I just recently =
lost it in a wind storm.
I only have 1 third of the antenna left on the tower, the other 2 thirds =
are on the ground along side the house.
I have an R7 that a friend gave me for when I upgrade to general.
What's the best way to mount it?
I have a postage stamp size yard and no place to guy it down, so I don't =
think it would be a good idea to put it on the tower.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

73.
