you don't even need to solder if you don't want to, there are plenty of 
other ways to do that if you want. My first home made dipole was made to be 
played with since it was my first and I just used nuts and screws to hold 
the legs and the feedline to it. Worked very well, I may still have it. that 
was for 20.
