hmmm...without an antenna you ain't got a radio is an interesting
observation.
I think the proponents of the E H antenna are trying to quell that
particular concept hi hi.
Google E H antenna and see what you get.
Supposedly, you can build a high efficiency antenna that is like two feet
tall for 20 meters.
I thought of building one, but the instructions consist of allot of diagrams
and pictures, without a whole lot of textual explanation, so I am still not
really sure how they're build precisely.
Some guys swear by them, but I'm still slightly sceptical.
I've never heard one that I know of, in use on the bands.
Though one setup I heard was quite interesting. A guy in arazona was using
a screw driver antenna, ground mounted with a few hundred feet of radials
under it.
Apparently, he lived in a "no antenna" housing development, but had a bunch
of land behind his place that went off into the desert or scrub or
something. Anyway, there was a good sized hill that rose immediately behind
his back fence, and he ran some high quality coax out to the top, and hid a
screw driver in the brush...I guess the growth was high enough to pretty
much hide the thing even at full extension.
He managed to lay down the radials and keep everything well disguised or
hidden and he ran a KW with a pro3 out of his house.
Really great signal on 20 and probably most other bands he could work with
the screw driver.
Where there's a will, there's a way usually.
