I like the amr-wb but not sure that has made it to ham or commercial
radio yet. It is currently in use for government and cellular.

The alinco digital voice was horrible, sounded allot like the old
computer voice synths from the 80's....early deck talk and so on.
The D star and motorola digital voice clips were pretty good though, no
worse then your typical sell phone.
It seems as though everyone has accepted the sound of digital encoding
and decoding on the sell phones, so why not on the radio too?
I was very impressed by the aor arb9800 clip. If that regular analogue
SSB signal was the same one used in the digital half of the clip, that
is very impressive indeed.
