well, around here, i'm always being invited to club meetings, but getting a
ride can sometimes be tricky.
Also, any club events usually take place at the repeater site which is on
the extreme opposite end of the city from me...no busses, the local handicap
bus service doesn't go that far, and most of the folks that attend those
events live on that end of town.
We don't have any clubs that have an official MAP program, but one can
usually russle up assistance with radios, antennas, projects and so on if
necesary.
We tend to have allot of seniors in the clubs and they do get assistance
from the less senior and younger hams as needed.
We have very few disabled hams around so there hasn't been much need or
demand for a MAP or for anyone to be volunteer drivers or helpers.
I would be much more involved in the biggest local club if it was within my
area or at least within reasonable transportation distance...a few times a
year I'll cab it out to the site, but that's a $45 one way trip and not done
very often.
Our metro area has a population of around 1.1 million, yet the biggest club
only has a little under 200 members...so that gives you an idea of the type
of clubs we have.
