A hand mic will sound tinny anywhere, I've heard very few, much less on the 
newer radios that sound good. If you're doing dx or what ever it's livable, 
but try a local or close to it rag chew, it's very obvious what you're 
using. Especially since they use mostly the same mics now they have for 
almost 30 years, maybe changing a connector or so, the newer radios just 
don't sound as good I find, like the 570DG  sounds like absolute crap with 
most people with the hand mic, same hand mic that they used way back with 
the TS-440 and it sounded a bit better on that radio. I never even took mine 
out of the box until a flood in the cellar destroyed that box. I saved the 
TS-570 plugs and hand mic, but still will never use it and I've never heard 
anyone try it with the TS-2000 so I can't say what that sounds like. I'm 
told again, with most voices even worse.
