Tom and all:
It depends on whether you are looking at the antenna characteristics or
looking at what load is presented to the transmitter.
If looking at the antenna, then the measuring equipment needs to be attached
directly to the antenna.
If you are trying to match the antenna to the rig, the measuring equipment
needs to be between the tuner and the transmitter output circuit.
As mentioned previously, the G5RV antenna system originally included and L/C
tuner - it wasn't purely a wire system in its own right.
It always was a compromise for ham band purposes.
