Hi Rhonda,
I am sorry to hear you are having these difficulties. I am praying that
these issues get resolved and that you will be able to take your tests and
do well on them. Huggs,

Virgie and Lady Hoshi

Subject: more school issues

I have a problem and would like your opinion. I am a sociology major and am
now taking mostly essay tests which require one paragraph to s3everal in
order to answer the questions. My Learning Support And Testing office which
administers tests does not have a computer with Jaws loaded on it. I have
requested this several times as I presently either use a Braille writer or
Pac Mate with a Braille display to write my essay answers and then dictate
them to someone who puts my answers on to the tests. The problem happened
Tuesday when all of a sudden my Braille display on the Pac Mate would do
nothing at all. I had already answered two short answer questions and had
hear two others. I was about to start the longer questions when my device
failed. I said I wanted to come back another time when I would bring in my
Braille Writer so I could write my eswsay answers down. They wanted toknow
why I couldn’t just tell someone what to write for me. I tried to explain
that I needed to be able to write things down so I could better organize my
thoughts. So, what do you think should be done? The testing director said
that Jaws had been installed on to a computer in the office but it
conflicted with the program the school uses to give Clep tests so was
removed. It probably wasn’t meant in the way I took it, but it seemed to me
that other students mattered more than I did. I can’t understand why Jaws
would be in conflict. It shouldn’t start speaking until it is turned on
and it can be set so that it only runs when it is needed. I am very
frustrated at this moment. I just wondered what is done at other colleges
and universities. I appreciate your feedback.
Thank you.

Rhonda Partain
