Phil,
You mentioned this in your post about Dobson, and in fact, you
allude often to the fact that you think that you have a cynical
attitude. Brother, let me tell you, compared to me, you are an
optimist. How's that. I listen to Dobson, but I don't drink the
Kool aid, if you know what I mean. I don't drink anybody's Kool aid
for that matter. I appreciate Dobson, and I learn a lot, but my
critique antenna is always waving around, rejecting a lot of
stuff. For example, I am grateful for the information that often
comes through their Citizen's action wing, but I rarely call my
congress reps. I guess that I'm just not convinced that that's the
right move to make. Maybe I'm getting old. Maybe I'm getting
lazy. I don't know. I just know that if I got worked up over
everything that most of these talk shows tell me to get worked up
about, I'd be robbed of all the peace and rest that our Lord wants to
give me. I already have semi high blood pressure. I don't need to
make it worse. I see my job is to be affective with the people that
I can directly minister to. Oddly enough, perhaps that is the one
thing that I've learned from listening to Rush, to not be a lemming
and to not be gullible; to check out things before jumping to
conclusions and to get my emotions out of the decision making process.
By the way, great story about your son with the ear aches. We
haven't had such good luck with chiropractors. My mother just
stopped seeing one after six months because he really wasn't helping
her at all. I guess different strokes for different folks. I'm glad
that it worked in your family's favor. There is nothing worse than
having your little one in pain and feeling helpless to do anything
about it. I think that that has to be one of the most desperate
feelings in the world. You will move heaven and earth to fix
things. How Mary ever made it through the crucifixion I will never know.
Blessings
Kathy
