Steve,
Thanks for the info. I have been debating over the THP HL 1.2 KFX or the HL
1.5 KFX. I like the idea of having a full KW and auto band switching. I
just don't know if it's worth the extra money. I've been trying to find
something on the used market but they're just not out there.

Hi Gary,

I have the THP HL 1.2 KFX, which is the
latest version of the one Kevin has. Rated 750 watts SSB and just over
600 CW. As far as accessibility, just set the band switch. I think both

the KW and legal limit versions offer auto band switching. Mine has 5
LED's to indicate various faults, which can be picked up by a light probe.

I think David on this list from the UK either has or has owned the Quadra.
Perhaps he will chime in.

I know a fellow that has the SP Expert and likes it very much. I think
there were some early production problems that have since been sorted out,
and his was brought up to current specs. There were also problems getting a

US distributor and service center lined up, but I think all is well now.

Nothing from Kenwood, but Icom has the PW-1 kilowatt amp. Not sure if the
PW-2 has ever seen the light of day. Also rumors about one from Elecraft,
but probably not for some time, if ever.

Good luck, Steve KW3A
