I know a guy who's station, which includes a few packet BBS's for mars and
general ham use running 24/7, runs on solar power. It works out for him very
well. I thought about it but it's really a lot of money which I don't have
right now. If I had the money though to do like he did, I'd probably look at
doing the same thing. I'm already looking at ways to possibly cut back on
the power my station uses but haven't found one yet. I thought about putting
my packet setup on it's own small power supply which will help when I'm not
here or sleeping, but the astron will still be running when I am here and
when I forget to shut it off which would be more often than not so I think
that would actually make things worse.
