I think it is as good as the g5rv. The main attraction for me was it
presents a good load across all bands so my solid state amp loves it. I
don't have an external tuner, so the g5rv didn't work all that well with
the amp. I have mine up as an inverted v. It is a folded dipole with
spreaders that space the wires about 2 feet or more apart. In the center
at the bottom is a balun where the feed point attaches. Directly above
this at the center of the top wire is another unknown plastic thing, I
think a resister. They do sell a special mounting insolater but I just
used pvc pipe to separate these parts and keep metal away from the wires.
Below the feed point I attached the pvc to my mast. The ends of mine are
only about 4 or 5 feet above the ground. It doesn't work worth a damn on
160, but very well on other bands. I also have a gap verticle up and some
times one antenna is better and some times the other. The wire is, as one
would expect, a bit quieter.
