Well, right off, if you do packet the way I do, there's no mailbox in the 
built in TNC's and they lack in a ton of settings. For APRS, packet cluster, 
and just general playing around and conversing they're alright but really, 
they're very barebones. The TNC in my TS-2000, for what I do, doesn't even 
compare with the KPC3+ I use on packet, in fact it wouldn't even make a good 
backup. For the Packet cluster, for DX spots, it's great and I know a few 
people using them on APRS which we can't really do, but really beyond that 
you're better off with a separate packet station if you're going to really 
be active on packet.
