I don't know if it's still true, or true across the board, but at one time
the Kenwood switching supplies were built by Samlex. I almost bought one
of the Samlex switching supplies for the 2000 a few years ago, but went
with the Astron linear instead. Of course for your intended use the
switcher may be a better choice.
