I don't think the v71 has a built in  tnc.
though i may be wrong.
the d7a has a built in tnc and dual band tx and rx capabilities.
the only other radio that kenwood makes that can be used with sky command
and the ts2000 is the tm D700.
However, if the v71 is anything like the v7a, or the d700 or the ts2000,
they can all be controled on a very limited basis with dtmf codes.
I haven't looked in a long time, and I haven't used the feature in a long
time, but I know you can control certain functions remotely by using the
dtmf codes for the ts2000 and the v7a...not sure about the v71.
