I had 30 responses about half asking me to summarize and half giving me
great info. I guess this wasn't a stupid question as so many others did not
know. Here are the most complete responses I received. I also got some
very long lists of numbers to call many meat companies and I did try to pass
these on but it was too much info. so the email was kicked back to me. So

Labeling on meats & poultry--turkeys, is regulated by the USDA. The USDA
fixed their labeling in the 1990s identify the hydrolyzed protein that were
hidden with variety of term. Find the regs at

Once you know the rules, picking a turkey, or other poultry or meat product
in the US, is as easy as just reading the label.
