Hi all, OT I know but I have an old laptop here I got for a project that I
found something better for and as if I don't have enough useless projects
waiting around that I'll never understand why I'd even want to, I'd like to
add another one and put linux on this old laptop.
Keep in mind it's old, 64 MB RAM, has a 1 GB hard drive in it now but I'll
be putting a 2 GB one in it if that drive checks out, I forget the speed of
the computer I think it's a 133 or 166 though. Is there a version of linux,
and screen reader for it I can install on that to play with? I have no
intention of ever changing over to another OS but with all the computer work
I do, I'm sure I'll have one with linux on it someday and I'd like to have
something I can play with so I can at least know where the problems are and
the basics. If anyone has suggestions, I'd like them. If there is nothing, I
guess plan B is to see if I can get the laptop rated 1 of the 5 worst of all
time and make it run windows 98 at least well enough to use it at ham radio
events to demonstrate digital modes. I hate to see things sit so I'll have
to use it for something. Otherwise I guess it goes in the huge box of
projects I've put aside with everything I need to finish them, but no drive
or time to get them finished. Ebay's going to have a lot of fun off me when
the day comes I have to move it all because that's where it's all going.
I'll probably be able to get enough to pay the moving bills on all the
nickel and dime stuff alone.
