I think part of it has to do with the fact that the digital signal can only
be at 30 per cent of the power.
I don't know if that's AM. or FM. or both.
But, that doesn't make sense either since the digital signal has to be much
higher for it to be effective.
And, you almost need to be digital today because if your analog tuner is too
wide, you pick up all the digital packets on either side of the station.
